Day 7 – Merimbula to Eden (26kms)

This morning we were up early to do the The Boardwalk at sunrise. This is a 3.4km walk along a boardwalk out over the Merimbula lake shore, through mangrove forests and past lots of oyster farms. The car park for this walk is on the right just before the bridge in Merimbula, on the northern side of the bridge. This was a spectacular walk !!!  We enjoyed the stillness, the birdlife… and just walking above the water and mangroves. And definitely worth doing at sunrise… the colours over the water were breathtaking!!

Another gem of a discovery… was finding Bar Beach Kiosk. This was the perfect spot to have breakfast overlooking Bar Beach. Was very scenic!! And the food and coffee were great too.

We then drove the 8mins to Pambula and geared up for another few hours of retail browsing.

Our find in Pambula was Stella’s Vintage Tea Room. This is a definite must for lovers of Devonshire teas. It is the most quaint tea shop, fabulous scones, LEAF tea in BIG teapots and the best best part… was a lovely lady from the local retirement village who entertained us with her beautiful piano playing. Appparently this lady comes for a few hours every day to play and have a cuppa with the owner – Stella. It was a DELIGHTFUL time here and a must do in Pambula.

Was a short drive to Eden and more retail browsing in the main street. Eden is another spectacular coastal town on Twofold Bay and the walks around the headland were amazing.

We would recommend Big 4 Ingenia  – good place to pay a little more and get a beach view cabin. We enjoyed the spectacular sunset from our cabin porch.

Another find was the free shuttle from Big 4 Ingenia to the Eden Gardens Country Club. The food was plentiful and delish.
