Day 2 – Mossy Point to Narooma (67km)

Started the day with delicious croissants with homemade jam (thanks Dave for procuring these fresh from the local bakery!!!) Said a fond farewell to these lovely friends and headed off on our adventure.

First stop was Moruya Saturday Markets (and yes it was Saturday AND a blue sky, BEAUTIFUL day !!!!). These markets are among the most picturesque beside the river. There are concrete winding paths between the stalls and lots of beautiful autumn coloured trees which shade the stalls. The colours from the stalls combined with colours of the autumn leaves was STUNNING!!! A real feast for the senses! If you are planning a road trip in this area, plan to be here on a Saturday and especially in autumn.

After we snaffled a few bargains (a $5 mustard top…I was excited!!), we walked beside the river to the town centre.

Was a perfect location to enjoy a very healthy lunch of fresh fruit (from the farmers at the market).

Bonus score was that it was the Moruya festival that Saturday and when we found the main street, we were right on time for the street parade. Enjoyed seeing all the colourful floats and costumes and the multitudes of vintage cars. There were even vintage nurses in the parade…lol.

When our enthusiasm had waned part way through the parade… Jen and I checked out a few shops. We found one in the main street that sold a plethora of interesting woollen tights and I was a HAPPY girl. For someone who mostly wears skirts in winter… interesting tights are a MUST 🙂

From Moruya we headed to Bodalla dairy and sampled some cheeses. The ones we chose for our ‘on the road pantry’ included:

  • Outback Saltbush Cheddar
  • Chilli with Wattleseed Cheddar
  • Queensland Lemon Myrtle Cheddar

Enjoyed a cuppa and very relaxed vibe on the back deck of Bodalla Dairy – overlooking the lush countryside.

From Bodalla it was a short drive to the coast and we enjoyed the picturesque beaches from Dalmeny to Kianga.

Arrived in Narooma and found the perfect cabin at Narooma Big 4. Enjoyed cool drinks and nibbles watching the sun set.
