Day 8 – Sightseeing in Adelaide

Nice sleep in today!!!

This morning we used the free city buses to do the CBD circuit which was a great way to see the city. Adelaide is the city of churches and we got to see quite a few of them from the bus.

St Peters cathedral is one of the most impressive churches and we popped inside to see it. Worth a look!!

Also visited the Adelaide Art Gallery. Love the way they have set up the paintings. Like walking into a home…..with wallpaper, ornaments and paintings on the wall. LOVED this creativity.

Walked down to River Torrens where the boats take you on a ride up the river (didn’t do this…..but if I had more time I would have)….and discovered Historic Lounders Boatshed Cafe….was very popular (usually a good sign)…..had a lovely chilled vibe!! I would definitely recommend and try to get an outdoor table overlooking the river. The food was DELISH!!! Very unexpected relaxing experience watching the river as we enjoyed our brunch! And Kev said the coffee was great!

This afternoon we headed to Hahndorf. This is a must see and allow a few hours here. A long main street of gorgeous, interesting shops (even the boys didn’t mind the browse). There are lots of interesting German cafes to choose from…just ensure they have a fire going and check the serves out before ordering…..they are usually very very large serves.

We also visited Beerenberg Farm and sampled lots of jams and chutneys. I especially loved the Violet jam and Rose jam……not to mention the Sticky Fig chutney :).

From here we drove to Goolwa. Jen’s cousin Greg and his lovely wife Sarah live here and we stayed with them for 2 nights.
