Day 4 – Sightseeing in Dubbo

Was so excited to see Western Plains Zoo. Popped into the Village Bakehouse  for picnic lunch supplies on our way. Always good to have local intel on the best bakeries. This one did not disappoint. Great coffee too!

Spent a leisurely afternoon walking/driving around the Zoo. Was so so enjoyable!!

Highlights:

  • amusing meerkats who just all sat watching us
  • incredibly high walls around the lions (and trying to fathom how they needed to be that high – keeps the lions in and the local roos out)
  • the sleek cheetah who sat so close on the other side of a moat and we just eyeballed each other for ages. (I super love that there are no walls or cages….and you almost feel like you have just discovered these animals on your walk ☺☺

  • the gorgeous zebras who were so close (their zebra coat actually glistens and no two zebras have the same pattern of stripes)

  • AND the baby zebra was beyond gorgeous!!!

The Zoo is so well set out and the enclosures so generous for the animals….was a very enjoyable afternoon of animal experiences!!!

Finished the day with a lovely lamb roast and birthday cake for Sharon and Jen. Have loved the warmth and generous hospitality of Sharon and Alistair on their gorgeous farm. Such a gift staying with friends.
