TEA/COFFEE CORNER RENOVATION – LONG WEEKEND, JUNE 2022

We had our long weekend all planned. Friends arriving from the Blue Mountains (love that we have kept in contact with close friends despite the move).

But on Friday morning – our friends delivered the sad news that they were sick and would not be able to visit.

A WHOLE long weekend now without plans……

So so many options in the quest of FINDING RELAXED.

But this always looks different for us. One way that we enjoy relaxing is to renovate and this is what we decided to do.
A corner of our kitchen had not been functioning well, so we decided to tackle this.

I am a tea drinker and have LOTS of tins of tea. Our tea/coffee corner had a high, deep cupboard that was hard to access and we generally only used the front part of the cupboard. We talked about a few options like replacing it with shelving but decided this would not suit the kitchen.

The other issue was we wanted more benchtop space in this corner. This meant removing the roller cabinet door /cabinet (that was under our corner high cupboard).

After talking about lots of different options, we chose to:

  • match the other cupboard at the end of the same benchtop
  • build a split high cupboard to increase the accessibility to the tea/coffee options
  • tile the walls underneath the cupboard to match the other end of the benchtop
  • get silicone remover to clean the silicone residue on the benchtop

Now that we have the bench space – we are off to buy a coffee machine (for Kev) 
Very relaxing…. when a plan comes together.
